Georgia RV Parks: The RV parks in Georgia You Want to Visit!
RV parks in Georgia lie scattered all over the state, most densely in the north and northwest. Unfortunately, when my wife and I rolled through Georgia on our 30,000-mile road trip across America, we crossed only Georgia’s coastal toe, and the only Georgia RV park we experienced firsthand was located near Savannah.
We had been en route from Florida north to New England and Canada’s Maritime Provinces, towing a 32-foot fifth-wheel trailer, after departing the Pacific Northwest the year before. Our road trip was a journey we had undertaken in search of our country and of ourselves, and the adventure is recounted in my book, In Search of America’s Heartbeat: Twelve Months on the Road.
The Georgia RV park that we visited was:
- Savannah Oaks RV Resort near Savannah. We stayed there several nights, and it provided a wonderful base from which to explore the delights of Savannah. It was our first visit to Savannah, and just by chance we rolled into town on March 29, at the height of the azalea season. The sight was almost overwhelming; splashes of primary colors -- giant gobs of them -- everywhere. It seemed as though virtually every square foot of Savannah wore a flowered robe of brilliant hues; an exaggeration, I know, but not much of one. Over the azaleas and the streets and their beautiful, park-like squares spread a canopy of ancient live oak trees dripping silver-colored Spanish moss like tinsel from a Christmas tree. The effect was staggering, and it was several days before we could tear ourselves away from Savannah. Meanwhile, we enjoyed our stay at the Savannah Oaks RV Resort, where the RV park operators provided 79 sites for travelers, all of them pull-throughs, all with full hookups. They also provided cable TV, laundry room, groceries, RV supplies, LP gas sales, a pool, game room, a boat-launching ramp, a dock and access to freshwater fishing.
If you’re considering exploring any Georgia RV parks, I hope you’ve found my observations about this area helpful. If you know of any other RV parks in Georgia that I should add to this list, e-mail me at searchforamerica@msn.com
